Is recognition from the Ministry of Education required for this type of training?
Desgraff prefers not to obtain a permit with the Ministry of Education so as to focus its program and management of the school specifically on the objectives of the students. In the evolving field of digital arts for the gaming industry, it is more advantageous for a student to register in a private program because there are fewer constraints allowing the timely update of training software and equipment compared to the sluggish public school system. Desgraff is well known in the Eastern Townships and has developed a formal partnership with a growing list of video game developers in Quebec to assist in the placement of its graduates.
Furthermore, a graduate at Desgraff could be eligible for university depending on the age and experience which could be deemed relevant (see the Registrar of the Institution chosen). Courses at Desgraff could be considered equivalent to some courses in college or university that can later be credited.
Prerequisites and admission requirements
Without exception, candidates must be a high school graduate (DES) and have computer skills. The criteria for students to be accepted will be determined upon evaluation of the candidate’s portfolio and curriculum vitae during an interview. If the candidate is retained, a form of financing will then be proposed.
Employment Benefits with Emploi-Québec
The student may, if qualified, receive employment benefits-Quebec for the duration of the program. If eligible, his grades and his attendance rate will be sent to Emploi-Québec. Emploi-Québec may, where high absenteeism and low grades exist, refuse to continue to provide benefits to a student
Group Schedule
The day program hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm and from 4:00pm to 9:30pm for the evening program. Classes are closed during lunch (12:00pm to 1:00pm) and during the dinner break (7:00pm to 7:30pm), as well as weekends, holidays, school holidays and days set aside by the Institute (storms, electrical blackout, etc.).
International Students
Students from abroad can visit the Immigration-Québec www.immigration quebec.gouv.qc.ca of all documents necessary to obtain a CAQ (Certificate of Acceptance in Quebec) and student permit. A private health insurance is required for the application of the CAQ to be accepted.
